What frightens A lab has taken three statues from an ancient excavation, and its scans show preserved bodies inside them; in tiny 64x64 pixel scenes you look over flayed anatomy on the scanner, a winged statue streaked with red and a face glowing out of the dark, as a story about sin unfolds with no jump scares.

Content: grotesque anatomy, religious themes.

These Heavenly Bodies is a free, five-to-ten-minute point-and-click horror game by ToothandClaw, played in the browser at a resolution of 64 by 64 pixels. A lab has dug three statues out of an ancient site, and the scans show preserved bodies inside.

About These Heavenly Bodies

These Heavenly Bodies is a tiny horror game by ToothandClaw, made in Unity for the LOWREZJAM 2024, a jam where games must run at 64 by 64 pixels; its maker did not finish it in time for the jam and released it afterwards. It plays free in the browser on itch.io, with a mouse or a touchscreen, and takes 5 to 10 minutes.

A lab has obtained three statues from the excavation of an ancient site. Scans of the statues indicate preserved bodies within. You click your way through the lab's rooms and its scanner, looking at what each statue holds.

The low resolution works in its favour: the blocky scans show stripped muscle and bone, a winged figure smeared with red, and a face glowing red out of black, and the eye fills in the rest. Players call it short, weird and grotesque, say they grew more unnerved as they went, and note its religious themes of sin and a surprising last part. One thanks it for not using jump scares.

It suits players who like very short, strange horror with a striking look, and religious dread such as Faith or Gray Dawn.
