What frightens In a sunless world that is devouring itself, you walk through hellish tombs and cathedrals of flesh with no safety or comfort anywhere, guided only by a pale light, and sacrifice parts of your own body to give your hand the powers that carve a way forward.

Content: blood, body horror.

Eclipsium is a surreal first-person horror game by Housefire. As the desperate Wanderer, you search a sunless, self-devouring world for Her, passing through hellish tombs, cathedrals of flesh and space, and sacrificing parts of yourself for the powers of a twisting, transmuting hand.

About Eclipsium

Eclipsium is a first-person horror game by Housefire, a small team from Gothenburg, Sweden, published by Critical Reflex and released on Steam in September 2025.

You play the Wanderer, who is searching for Her. Her light, now little more than a whisper of a memory, pulls you onward, though it may be a lure. The world has lost its sun and is devouring itself, and the landscape changes with every step. Your path runs through hellish tombs, cathedrals of flesh and even out into space, toward a distant tower with a floating heart.

There is no safety or comfort anywhere. Your one power is your hand, which twists and transmutes as the Wanderer gives up parts of his body, and you use what it can do to solve puzzles, work on the world around you and find the way out of each place. The whole thing is drawn in a heavy dithered, low-resolution style that makes its flesh and stone look like an old nightmare.

It suits players who like surreal, image-led horror with little explanation, such as Scorn, and want something to look at and puzzle over more than a monster to run from. A free anniversary update, The Dark Tar, added a new location and new interludes.

How to play Eclipsium

  1. Buy it on Steam for Windows.
  2. Walk toward the pale light that guides you through each place.
  3. Use the powers of your transmuting hand on the world around you.
  4. Solve each area's puzzles to find its way out.
  5. Keep going toward the tower and Her, giving up what the journey asks.

Tips

  • Follow the pale light when you are lost; the store says it guides you.
  • Try the powers of your hand on the world around you, since each place hides its own way out.
  • Do not expect a safe room: the store warns there is no safety or comfort in it.
