What frightens A year after the first game, the Exmortis have laid waste to the Earth and you are the only survivor. As you flee their final attack, a mysterious figure follows you with sinister intent, through a church, an abandoned ranch and supernatural places, and diaries and newspaper clippings tell a dark, macabre story.

Content: disturbing images, rated mature on newgrounds.

Exmortis 2 is the free 2006 sequel to Ben Leffler's Flash horror classic, still playable on Newgrounds. The Exmortis have devastated the Earth, and as their only survivor you flee through a church, an abandoned ranch and stranger places while a sinister figure follows you.

About Exmortis 2

Exmortis 2 is the sequel to Exmortis, made by Ben Leffler of LefflerWebDesign and released on Newgrounds in March 2006, where it won Daily Feature and Weekly 4th Place. Newgrounds runs it through its Flash emulator, so it is still free to play in the browser.

It picks up one year after the first game. The Exmortis, the ancient beings whose story began in the house in the woods, have devastated the Earth, and you are the only survivor. As you flee their final attack, a mysterious figure pursues you with sinister intentions.

Like the first game it is a first-person point-and-click adventure: you explore a church, an abandoned ranch and supernatural realms, click on what you find and solve puzzles, among them a sudoku that the maker himself points stuck players to a walkthrough for. Chapter checkpoints mean a failure does not send you far back. Diary entries and newspaper clippings carry much of the story, and reading them is optional but rewarding.

Jay is Games called it an excellent example of good interactive design and praised its audio and visuals. Play Exmortis first for the story. Newgrounds rates it Mature.

  4. Solve the puzzles that block your way, including the sudoku.
  5. If you fail, carry on from the chapter checkpoint.

Tips

  • The maker points players stuck on the sudoku to the walkthroughs on Jay is Games and Lazylaces.
