What frightens A cult sends you into a dark forest in Carrister Valley to find and kill wealthy people for The Pit, and every mission adds a new monster whose behaviour you must work out to survive while you hunt.

Content: killing of people, cult themes, blood.

Feed The Pit is a first-person investigative horror game from Curious Fox Sox. A cult called the E.C.C. sends you into the woods of Carrister Valley to find and kill wealthy targets, using magical cards that each ask one question about where they hide, while a different monster stalks you on every mission.

About Feed The Pit

Feed The Pit is a story-driven horror game by the small studio Curious Fox Sox, released on Steam in June 2026. Act 1 is out now; the store says Acts 2 and 3 will follow as free updates.

You have been invited into a society that serves The Pit, and The Pit is hungry. Each mission sends you into the deep woods of Carrister Valley after one wealthy person. You cannot simply look for them: you draw a hand of magical cards, and each card asks a single question about the target's location. With the right questions the map narrows until only one possible spot remains. Your hand is limited, so you work with what you are dealt, and no two investigations play out the same.

The woods are not empty. Every mission brings a new monster that acts as your nemesis for the day, and the game does not explain how it behaves. You learn it by watching, taking risks and sometimes dying, while you still try to finish the hunt.

The look is low-resolution pixel 3D in dark greens and blood reds, with robed cult members, a gold-framed portrait of their leader and spindly creatures in the trees. Steam players describe a dark sense of humour running through the cult's story, but the hunts themselves are tense. It suits players who liked the deduction and dread of Inscryption, or who want a horror game where thinking under pressure matters as much as running.

How to play Feed The Pit

  1. Take your mission from the society and enter the forest.
  2. Play a card from your hand to ask one question about where the target is.
  3. Use each answer to rule out parts of the map.
  4. Watch the day's monster to learn how it moves and what sets it off.
  5. Reach the one spot left on the map and finish the hunt before the monster finishes you.

Tips

  • Spend broad questions first to cut the map down quickly, and keep narrow cards for the end.
  • Treat your first encounter with each monster as a lesson: note what it reacts to before you take risks.
  • Your hand is limited, so think about which question removes the most ground before you play it.
  • There is a challenge mode for more runs once you have finished Act 1.
