Not on PlayStation. HR: Human Remains is on Steam and PC. It is not in the PlayStation part of the site you came from.

What frightens The demons won the war, and the humans left are eaten, sacrificed or enslaved; you sign your job contract in blood and work for demon bosses in a ruined city, where disobedience means a demon's maw. Blood, flesh and cruelty, a monster tracked only by sound and scanner in a dark basement, and spore-filled hallucinations.

Content: blood and gore, cruelty, needles.

HR: Human Remains is a first-person retro horror game by dennisCorner. Demons have conquered the world, and as an ordinary office clerk you complete the tasks your demon bosses give you, solve puzzles and learn the rules of their regime, then decide whether to obey and survive or resist from within, toward one of several endings.

About HR: Human Remains

HR: Human Remains is the work of the developer dennisCorner, published by Black Lantern Collective and released on Steam for Windows on 28 September 2026. It is played in English and nine other languages.

The demons won the war. Humanity is close to extinction, and the people who remain are eaten, sacrificed or enslaved. Worst of all, you still have to work for a living. Your survival ticket is the only thing between you and a demon's maw, and to keep it you must complete the tasks your boss assigns. The diligent are rewarded; those who disobey face the consequences.

Each workday is its own assignment, and the game keeps changing how it plays: reading mail and searching archives, running strange machines, sneaking past demons that must not notice you, and mapping a pitch-dark basement with a lidar scanner while something moves in it. Between jobs you cross a city overrun by demonic influence, talk to demons and other survivors to learn the rules of this new society, find hidden places and lore discs, and collect items to decorate your break room.

The horror sits beside a dark sense of humour. The world is full of blood, flesh and cruelty, and players say it gave them the creeps more than once, yet many of the demon co-workers turn out to be likeable. Choices matter: show that you are useful and you may live to see tomorrow, or hold on to hope and work against the demons from within, and the ending changes with what you do.

It suits players who enjoy story-led retro horror with varied puzzles and a strange world to learn, along the lines of Yuppie Psycho or Mouthwashing, rather than constant chases.

How to play HR: Human Remains

  1. Sign your contract and make your way to your cubicle to receive your first task.
  2. Complete each assignment from your boss: read your mail, find files, operate machines and solve the puzzles in your way.
  3. Explore the city between jobs and talk to demons and survivors to learn the rules of the regime.
  4. Look for hidden places, lore discs and items for your break room.
  5. Decide whether to serve the demons or work against them; your choices shape the ending.

Tips

  • Talk to everyone, demons included: many explain the rules you need to survive the next task.
  • In the dark basement, scan often and listen; the threat there is easier to hear than to see.
  • Some machines run on long cycles; watch one turn before committing to a jump or a move.
  • If you are unhappy with your ending, play again and choose differently; players say it is worth it.
