What frightens You watch live black-and-white camera feeds of an empty house from midnight to six and must report every change; furniture shifts, paintings warp, intruders and ghosts appear, and leave too many unreported and the night ends badly.

Content: jumpscares, scary imagery, mild nudity.

I'm on Observation Duty 4 is a spot-the-difference horror game played on a security monitor. You flick between camera views of a house from midnight to 6 am and report every change, from a moved chair to a figure that was not there before. Miss too many and you do not see the morning.

About I'm on Observation Duty 4

I'm on Observation Duty 4 is the fourth game in Notovia's Observation Duty series, released on Steam in December 2021. After an experiment with colour, it goes back to the series' roots: grainy black-and-white security cameras, a clock in the corner and a house where something is wrong.

Your job is to watch. You switch between camera views of rooms such as a kitchen, a study, a portrait gallery and a sauna, and memorise how each looks. Anomalies appear at random: an object moves, appears or vanishes, a light misbehaves, a painting changes, a door opens, an intruder walks in or a ghost stands in a corner. When you spot one you file a report by choosing the room and the kind of anomaly, and if you are right it is fixed. If too many go unreported, the night is lost.

The fear is slow and personal. Nothing chases you, but you stare at dark rooms long enough to stop trusting your memory, and every flick back to a camera might show a face. The monsters are rare, which makes them land harder, and the store notes there is no violence or gore.

It suits players who liked The Exit 8 or the anomaly-spotting nights of Five Nights at Freddy's but want something quieter and more about attention than reflexes. The game has several houses to watch, each a night from 00:00 to 06:00 in game time.

How to play I'm on Observation Duty 4

  1. Pick a house and start the night at 00:00.
  2. Use the arrows to flick through every camera and memorise each room.
  3. Keep cycling; when something has changed, open the anomaly report.
  4. Choose the room and the type of anomaly, then send the report.
  5. Keep the number of unreported anomalies low until the clock reaches 06:00.

Tips

  • Spend the first minutes learning every room before anomalies pile up; good memory matters more than speed.
  • Wrong reports cost time, so be sure of the room and type before you send.
  • Cycle the cameras in the same order each time so you notice what is new.
  • Play with sound on: some anomalies are easier to catch when you are paying full attention.

Questions

How long is I'm on Observation Duty 4?

One night lasts only minutes of real time, but HowLongToBeat lists about 4 hours to finish the game and about 6 for everything.

Is I'm on Observation Duty 4 scary?

It is mostly tense rather than violent: the dread comes from rooms changing when you look away, with some ghosts and intruders on camera. The store says there is no violence or gore.

Do I need to play the earlier games?

No. Each game stands alone with the same idea: watch cameras and report anomalies.

Is it on consoles or phones?

Not that we found. It is sold on Steam for Windows, Mac and Linux; the first game in the series had phone versions.
