What frightens You wake as a victim of circumstance in a silent winter forest that once saw brutal violence. Its strange residents talk to you in the dark, a bush, a stone, a bulging-eyed fish, a furred thing with huge eyes, while you search for a way out and for whatever waits deeper among the trees.

Content: violence (implied, in the story), unsettling creature images.

A small horror adventure by GMD13, drawn in stark black-and-white pixel art. Lost in a silent winter forest that once saw brutal violence, you help a lost soul regain a piece of itself, talking to the forest's strange creatures and uncovering the truth about the main character.

About KRAMPEN

KRAMPEN is a horror adventure by the independent maker GMD13, released on Steam in December 2023, playable in Russian and English with full voice in both.

You are a victim of circumstance, lost in a winter forest where every step echoes. The forest has seen brutal violence and still carries its marks. Somewhere within it is a lost soul you must help, and the further in you go, the deeper the forest turns out to be.

You walk through it, click on what you find and talk to its residents: a talking bush, a drunken stone, a fish who acts as a psychologist and other odd creatures. Their conversations are strange and sometimes funny, but the mood is anxious and confused, and the forest is said to remember everything you do.

It is drawn in stark black-and-white dithered pixel art, with close-ups of grotesque, detailed faces breaking the quiet. The maker promises secrets that go beyond the game itself, and players who dig into them enjoy chasing them outside it.

It suits players who like small, odd, atmospheric horror adventures with a mystery to unpick, more than chases or jump scares.

How to play KRAMPEN

  1. Buy it on Steam for Windows.
  2. Walk through the winter forest and click on what you find.
  3. Talk to the creatures you meet and listen to what they tell you.
  4. Gather what you need to help the lost soul and find your way deeper in.
  5. Look for the secrets the maker hid beyond the game itself.

Tips

  • Talk to every creature more than once; their lines hint at what happened in the forest.
  • Keep moving deeper: the maker says the forest gets bigger than it seems.
  • Look closely at the screens in the woods; not everything there is part of nature.
  • Play with sound on; the game is fully voiced in English and Russian.
