Mycopsychosys is a short horror visual novel by Delta Cat Studio. A storm of mind-altering spores is crossing Spain, and you must stay indoors with a small cast, follow the plague control department's rules and answer their questions right to survive, across five or six endings.

About Mycopsychosys

Mycopsychosys was made by Delta Cat Studio, a team of three, for the Spooktober Visual Novel Jam in 2023, and later grew into a remastered edition. It is a Ren'Py visual novel drawn in black and white with splashes of red.

A new kind of weather has become too common in Spain: spore storms. Heavy clouds full of Mycopsychosys spores are heading your way, and the National Plague Control Department's emergency alert is on the television. If you want to survive, you have to stay inside and follow the rules it issues. You are not alone in the flat, and much of the game is talking to the people with you, looking after them, and answering their questions, such as whether the tap water is safe, correctly. Wrong answers have consequences.

The horror is quiet and creeping: the rules you are not sure of, the friend who suddenly bleeds from the mouth, the red spores drifting over the rooftops at night. The makers even built a plague control web page and a survivor manual to read alongside the game.

There are two versions on itch.io. The first version, free, has the original three characters and five endings, and is the one with an Android download. The remastered version, paid, has redrawn characters, new backgrounds and animations, two new characters, deeper lore and a sixth ending, for Windows and Mac. A session takes about half an hour. The makers warn of death, mild gore, foul language and biological horror.

Read the emergency alert and the plague control rules; the survivor manual folder has them too.
Talk with the people sheltering with you and choose your answers to their questions carefully.
Keep to the rules as the storm arrives and watch for signs of infection.
Replay and answer differently to reach the other endings.
