Mycopsychosys: Remastered is a black-and-white horror visual novel from DeltaCat Studio. An emergency alert warns of a spore storm and orders everyone to stay indoors, and through the night you choose whether to open your door to the people who knock and how to care for them, knowing the infection kills those who breathe it.

About Mycopsychosys: Remastered

Mycopsychosys began as a free game made for Spooktober 2023 by Delta Cat Studio, a team of three. The Remastered version, released on Steam in August 2025, redraws the characters, adds new backgrounds and animations, expands the story and lore, and brings in two new characters and a sixth ending. The free first version is still on itch.io for anyone who wants to see where it started.

The premise is simple. Clouds full of Mycopsychosys spores are approaching your town, and the Plague Control Department has issued rules: remain indoors, keep your doors shut, isolation is safety. You spend the sporestorm in your house, talking with a small cast of neighbours and officials, answering their questions and deciding whether to let each of them in or leave them outside.

The horror comes from that decision and from the infection itself. The store warns that characters die from the fictional fungus in scenes of body horror and gore, with psychological horror in how they die. The art is hand drawn in black, white and grey, with red spores drifting across every scene, and a CRT emergency broadcast opens the night.

The makers built a Plague Control Department web page with information on the spores, the infection and the sick, and ship the same text in a Survivor manual folder with the game, so reading it is part of surviving. If you liked deciding who to trust at the door in That's not my Neighbor or No, I'm not a Human but want it told as a visual novel, this is that game.

How to play Mycopsychosys: Remastered

Buy and install the Remastered version on Steam or itch.io, or download the free first version on itch.io.
Read the emergency broadcast and the Plague Control Department rules before the storm begins.
Talk with each person who calls or comes to your door, choosing answers from the menus.
Decide whether to let each visitor in or keep the door shut.
Play again with different choices to reach the other endings.

Tips
