What frightens Jill Valentine searches the Queen Zenobia, a cruise ship adrift in the Mediterranean that should be empty, and finds its dim corridors and flooded decks home to pale, bloated creatures born of a virus from the sea; ammunition is short and things come through the vents and the water.
Content: gore, blood, violence, jumpscares, strong language.
Resident Evil Revelations is a Capcom survival horror game set between Resident Evil 4 and 5. Most of it follows Jill Valentine through the Queen Zenobia, a cruise ship full of creatures mutated by a sea-borne virus, with limited ammunition and a scanner to find what is hidden. Episodes cut between Jill, Chris Redfield and their partners.
About Resident Evil Revelations
Resident Evil Revelations first came out in 2012 on the Nintendo 3DS and was brought to PC and home consoles in 2013 with HD visuals, better lighting and sound, a new enemy and a harder difficulty. It was later released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
The story sits between Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5. Jill Valentine and her partner Parker Luciani of the BSAA board the Queen Zenobia, a cruise ship that is supposed to be abandoned, looking for Chris Redfield. What they find is a ship of gloomy cabins, ballrooms and flooded lower decks taken over by the Ooze, creatures made by the T-Abyss virus. The game is told in episodes, like a TV series, and other chapters follow Chris and other agents elsewhere, including the ruined city of Terragrigia.
On the ship, it plays like a slower, tenser Resident Evil than its neighbours. Ammunition and weapons are limited, enemies are tough and come from vents and the water, and the Genesis scanner lets you search rooms for hidden ammunition and herbs. The chapters away from the ship are more action-heavy.
Raid Mode, a separate mode played alone or online with a partner, lets you fight through levels for upgrades and loot. It suits players who like Resident Evil 4's over-the-shoulder shooting but want more of the old, close-quarters dread.
How to play Resident Evil Revelations
- Start the campaign and follow Jill through the Queen Zenobia episode by episode.
- Use the scanner on rooms and bodies to find hidden ammunition, herbs and items.
- Aim carefully and use the dodge; enemies are tough and ammunition is limited.
- Solve the ship's locks and puzzles to reach new decks.
- Try Raid Mode afterwards, alone or online with a partner, for upgrades and extra challenges.

Tips
- Scan often: it is the main way to find extra ammunition on the ship.
- Do not waste shots on enemies you can walk past.
- Learn the dodge timing; it saves a lot of healing items on higher difficulties.
- Upgrade your weapons with the parts you find at the weapon benches.
