What frightens Alex Shepherd comes home from war to the fog-bound town of Shepherd's Glen to find his missing brother, and is pulled into Silent Hill and its rusting otherworld, fighting faceless nurses and other monsters while he loses his grip on what is real.

Content: violence, gore, disturbing imagery.

Silent Hill: Homecoming is the 2008 Silent Hill game by Double Helix Games for Konami. Soldier Alex Shepherd returns to his hometown of Shepherd's Glen to find his missing brother and is drawn into Silent Hill, its otherworld and its monsters. It is still sold on the Xbox store and plays on Xbox One and Series X|S.

About Silent Hill: Homecoming

Silent Hill: Homecoming was developed by Double Helix Games and published by Konami in 2008. Konami still sells it on the Xbox store, where the Xbox 360 version plays on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S through backward compatibility.

Alex Shepherd returns to his hometown of Shepherd's Glen to investigate the sudden disappearance of his brother. The search leads him from Shepherd's Glen to Silent Hill, where he must face the darkest of horrors, unravel the mystery behind his nightmares and confront the evil in the town's empty streets, while, as the store puts it, struggling with his own grip on reality.

It keeps the series' fog, rust and sirens, its nurses and its otherworld, and puts more weight on close combat than the early games, since Alex is a soldier. Critics were divided at the time, but it remains one of the few Silent Hill games you can still buy.

It suits Silent Hill fans who have played the remake of Silent Hill 2 and want more of the series on a modern Xbox.

How to play Silent Hill: Homecoming

  1. Buy it on the Xbox store; it plays on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

  3. Fight the town's monsters with the weapons you find, dodging and countering their attacks.
  4. Follow the trail of your missing brother into the otherworld.
