What frightens Simon Ordell is called back to St. Amelia, a fog-bound Scottish island town in 1996 that seems abandoned but not at rest; in first person, with limited sight in the fog, he hides from and fights what moves in it, while a pocket television picks up unstable signals of threats nearby and fragments of a past he cannot escape.

Content: violence, mature content.

SILENT HILL: Townfall is a first-person psychological horror game from Screen Burn, published by KONAMI and Annapurna Interactive. Simon Ordell returns to the fog-covered island town of St. Amelia, Scotland, in 1996 to put things right, and must explore, hide, fight and solve narrative puzzles with a pocket television that tunes into the town's past.

About SILENT HILL: Townfall

SILENT HILL: Townfall was made by Screen Burn and released on Steam in September 2026 by KONAMI and Annapurna Interactive. Its makers call it the first full-length Silent Hill game presented in first person, and a self-contained story set away from the series' usual town, on the island of St. Amelia off Scotland in 1996.

Simon Ordell is called back to St. Amelia to put things right and finds the town quiet beneath a heavy fog, seemingly abandoned but not at rest. Protest banners hang around a monument, rooms glow red, an operating table sits under a sheet, and Simon is driven to understand his own connection to the place and its people.

The series' radio returns as the CRTV, a pocket television you tune to unstable analog signals that warn of threats nearby and carry story fragments and clues for narrative puzzles. You choose how to handle each encounter: melee weapons and firearms, or sneaking past from cover and luring enemies away with distractions. The music by Pilotpriest reacts to stealth and action, and the endings depend on what you do.

Its reception on Steam is Mixed. Players praise St. Amelia, the atmosphere, the voice acting and the sound design, while many find the long stretches of crouching and hiding tiresome and report stutters on PC. It suits Silent Hill fans who want the series' fog and grief in a new place and in first person.

How to play SILENT HILL: Townfall

  1. Buy it on Steam and run it on Windows; it supports controllers.
  2. Explore St. Amelia in first person through the fog.
  3. Tune the CRTV to pick up nearby threats and the story fragments you need for puzzles.
  4. Choose in each encounter whether to fight with melee weapons and guns or sneak past from cover.
  5. Solve the narrative puzzles to go deeper into the town's past and Simon's own.

Tips

  • Check the CRTV often; it warns you of threats before you see them in the fog.
  • Use distractions to lure enemies away rather than fighting every one.
  • Your actions shape the ending.
