What frightens On Halloween night ghost-hunter Nigel Danvers investigates what haunts the guest rooms above the harbourside pub and the end of the harbour wall, using gadgets to see and hear the spirit world, a spirit board and old dark arts, before the veil closes again for another year.

The Last Crown: Midnight Horror is a point-and-click ghost-hunting adventure by Darkling Room, set on Halloween night. Ghost-hunter Nigel Danvers has one night to uncover what haunts the rooms above a harbourside pub, using his gadgets to see and hear the spirit world.

About The Last Crown: Midnight Horror

The Last Crown: Midnight Horror is a classic point-and-click adventure from Darkling Room, written by Jonathan Boakes of Dark Fall and The Lost Crown, and released for Windows in October 2015. It sits between The Lost Crown and The Last Crown: Blackenrock and follows the same ghost-hunter, Nigel Danvers, and his partner Lucy.

It is Halloween in the harbour town of Saxton, and the veil between this world and the other side is at its weakest. Something is haunting the guest rooms above the local pub, The Bear, and there is a presence at the end of the harbour wall. You talk to the locals, collect ghostly evidence and use an array of ghost-hunting gadgets, among them a night-shot camera and a spirit board, to see and hear what the living cannot.

The game is drawn mostly in black and white, with orange jack-o'-lanterns and coloured objects standing out, and the night is full of Halloween: party games with a supernatural twist, a local white witch to practise psychometry with, and trick and treat, which the store page warns you play at your peril. The horror is old-fashioned ghost story rather than gore.

It suits players who like slow, story-led ghost hunts and British folk Halloween, and anyone who played the Dark Fall or Crown games.
