Ghost Watchers is a first-person co-op ghost-hunting game for up to four players. You explore abandoned houses, gather evidence with dozens of tools to work out what kind of ghost lives there, its age and its mood, then weaken it and catch it before it gets you.

About Ghost Watchers

Ghost Watchers is made by Renderise, a small independent studio. It entered Early Access on Steam in July 2022 and had its full release in July 2025. Its developers describe it as an online co-op horror game about exploring and hunting ghosts in abandoned houses.

A hunt starts at the door of a dark, empty building with a flashlight and a set of tools. You search the rooms for evidence of what is there: lights switched off, candles lit, objects moved and other habits that point to one kind of ghost. The game has over sixty tools for finding evidence and fighting back, from a danger detector and video cameras with motion sensors to crosses, incense, holy water and several kinds of salt, and seven locations to hunt in.

What sets it apart from games like it is the ghosts. There are about twenty kinds, from the souls of the dead to strange creatures and demons, each with its own attacks and animations, and you are asked to work out not only the type but its age and its mood. Once you know what you face, you weaken it with the right objects and catch it, while it fights back. An in-game encyclopedia gives each ghost a short, grim backstory.

The fear comes from the dark houses and from the moment a ghost shows itself in a doorway or at the end of a corridor. Game modifiers change hunts to keep them fresh. It suits groups who liked Phasmophobia and want more variety in their ghosts and more ways to fight them.

How to play Ghost Watchers

Start a hunt alone or with up to three friends online and choose a location.
Pick your tools, enter the house with a flashlight and search the rooms for signs of the ghost.
Gather evidence with detectors, cameras and other tools to find out the ghost's type, age and mood.
Use the right objects for that ghost, such as crosses, holy water or salt, to weaken it.
Catch the ghost to finish the hunt, and get out if it turns on you.

Tips

Read the in-game encyclopedia; it explains each ghost's habits and which tools work on it.
Not every protective object works on every spirit; some make strong demons angrier.
Split up the tools between players so the evidence comes in faster.
Keep a light on you and know your way out before you provoke the ghost.
