FOREWARNED is a co-op horror game for one to four players set in procedurally built ancient Egyptian tombs. Your team of archaeologists gathers evidence to name the cursed mummy haunting the ruins, grabs the sacred relic and tries to escape before the creature takes form and hunts you.

About FOREWARNED

FOREWARNED is made and published by the indie studio Dreambyte Games. It entered Steam Early Access in September 2021 and was released in full in April 2024. It plays on a flat screen or in PC VR, and the two can play together.

Each expedition takes you into one of twelve map types across the Sahara, with a tomb whose layout is generated anew each time. With torches and tools you search for signs of the haunting, read the evidence to work out which Mejai, a cursed mummy with its own strengths and weaknesses, rules the tomb, and use that name to open the inner chamber and take the relic. Gold and treasure found along the way buy better equipment between runs.

The fear builds as you go deeper. The corridors are lit only by what you carry, the walls hide traps and puzzles, and the Mejai can manifest at any time to stop you leaving. Proximity voice chat means a friend who strays too far goes quiet. Death is not the end: you can rise as the mummy's servant and choose whether to help the living or your new master.

It will feel familiar to players of Phasmophobia, with Egyptian tombs, mummies and treasure in place of ghosts and houses. Over 150 lore pages fill in the story for those who want it.

How to play FOREWARNED

Buy it on Steam and start a lobby solo, with friends, or join a public one.
Buy or upgrade tools in the lobby, then pick a tomb and head in.
Search the tomb for signs of the haunting and use them to identify which Mejai it is.
Use the Mejai's name to open the inner chamber and take the sacred relic.
Escape before the Mejai hunts you down; if you die, return as its servant.

Tips

Stay within voice range of your team; proximity chat cuts off anyone who wanders off.
Learn each Mejai's strengths and weaknesses from the lore, they decide how to survive it.
Do not get greedy: leaving alive with the relic beats one more room of treasure.
Try VR mode once you know the tombs; the torchlit corridors feel much closer.
