What frightens You enter dark houses where an aggressive ghost or demon has settled and must work out which of many kinds it is with detectors and other gear before exiling it with a ritual. The entity answers your voice, leaves signs that you are not welcome, and its jumpscares come more often as its anger rises; a wrong guess can get your team killed.

Content: jumpscares, blood and gore, uses your microphone (optional).

Ghost Exile is a first-person ghost-hunting game for one to four players. You enter haunted places, use more than 25 pieces of equipment to work out what kind of ghost or demon is there, and perform a ritual of exorcism to drive it out, while its anger and its jumpscares build.

About Ghost Exile

Ghost Exile is a cooperative horror game by LostOneTeam, released in Early Access on Steam in January 2022. Its premise is a near future in which ghosts and demons have become a real and aggressive threat, with reports of deaths among civilians, and the government is asking anyone with knowledge of the occult to help.

Each job takes you, alone or with up to three friends, into one of twelve locations where an entity has settled. The main task is to exile it, but first you have to determine what kind of ghost or demon it is. More than 25 types of primary and secondary equipment help with that: detectors, lights and other tools, plus a camera to photograph evidence for a larger reward. In a team, each player can take a role: installing equipment, drawing protective seals, or completing the side tasks.

The ghost reacts to you. A voice recognition system lets you speak to it out loud in several languages, and players without a microphone can use a command system instead. The entity leaves signs that you are not welcome, and the makers say jumpscares come more often the angrier it gets, depending on its type. Hasty conclusions are dangerous: naming the wrong entity can end badly.

Ghost Exile plays on the same formula as Phasmophobia and Demonologist: investigate, gather evidence, then act. What sets it apart is the exorcism ritual as the goal of each job rather than only naming the ghost, the protective seals your team draws, and a character editor. Extra difficulty options raise the challenge and the reward. It suits groups who like ghost-hunting games and want another one with a ritual at the end.

How to play Ghost Exile

  1. Pick a location and the equipment you want to bring, alone or with up to three friends.
  2. Enter the building and set up your detectors and other gear to look for signs of the entity.
  3. Draw protective seals and photograph evidence while you narrow down which type of ghost or demon it is.
  4. Speak to the ghost with your microphone, or use the command system, to get it to react.
  5. Once you are sure of its type, carry out the exorcism ritual to exile it, and get out if it turns on you.

Tips

  • Do not rush the identification: the store page warns that hasty conclusions can end the job badly.
  • Split the work in a team so one player sets up equipment while another draws seals and takes photographs.
  • Watch for the signs that the entity is getting angrier, since its jumpscares and danger rise with its anger.
  • If you have no microphone, learn the command system so you can still interact with the ghost.
