Project Unknown is an online co-op ghost-hunting game by PsychoRavens. As members of Paranormal Property Solutions, you and your team enter haunted homes, study each ghost's behaviour in your journal, find the belonging that holds its curse and exorcise it. Light is limited and the darkness is dangerous, so every room is a risk.

About Project Unknown

Project Unknown is a first-person co-op horror game by PsychoRavens, published by Nightmare Studios and released on Steam in October 2025.

You play gifted members of Paranormal Property Solutions, a firm that takes requests from clients whose homes are haunted and too cheap to sell. Your job is to clear the house of its ghost so the client can sell, and take your share.

Each job is an investigation. You learn the ghost's patterns and write its behaviour down in your journal, then look for the belonging where it keeps its curse, which is the key to the exorcism. Tools include a Ghost Magnifier, a Ritual Bell, a Curse Sensor and a Flashlight Unit, which you buy and use on your jobs. A miasma spreads through each house and has to be cleansed before the job is lost.

What sets it apart from other ghost-hunting games is its cast and its rules for light. Each character has a special ability: Eirene the tarotist shares a fate with a teammate through her cards, Zay brings his dog, Luther is a priest, and Nyx carries a grimoire. Apparitions dislike light, but only a few lights can be on at once before the breaker trips, and the darkness in these houses is something to stay out of.

It suits groups who liked Phasmophobia or Demonologist and want character abilities and RPG elements on top of the evidence hunting.

How to play Project Unknown

Buy the game on Steam, then host or join an online co-op session with friends.
Pick a character; each has a special ability, from tarot cards to a dog to a grimoire.
Buy tools such as the Ghost Magnifier, Ritual Bell, Curse Sensor and Flashlight Unit before a job.
Enter the client's house, watch the ghost's behaviour and note it in your journal.
Find the belonging that holds the ghost's curse, keep the miasma in check, and complete the exorcism before the house turns on you.

Tips

Turn on only the lights you need: too many trip the breaker and leave you in the dark.
Write down what the ghost does as soon as you see it; the journal is how you learn to survive each one.
Deal with the miasma early, before it spreads too far to finish the job.
