Whisper Mountain Outbreak is an isometric co-op horror game for one to four players, which its makers call escape room meets survival horror, set in 1998 on a mountain cursed by an ancient horror. You explore abandoned buildings, fight off waves of monsters, scavenge, craft and solve puzzles while trying to find a way out of the fog.

About Whisper Mountain Outbreak

Whisper Mountain Outbreak is an online co-op horror game by Toge Productions, released in Early Access on Steam in August 2025. It is 1998, and a mining operation on Mt. Bisik has disturbed a ruin buried deep inside the mountain. A mysterious fog has covered the land around it, people hear whispers and see monsters, and you and your friends are trapped inside the curse.

You play from an isometric view, with 2D pixel-art characters in 3D low-poly rooms. At the start of each run you choose one of six classes, each with its own perks and skills, then move through a map of missions in places such as a city hospital, a police station, a local clinic and an abandoned factory. Lingering fog, tight rooms and limited visibility keep the monsters close before you see them.

Monsters come in waves, and you fight them off with melee and ranged weapons while healing with herbs. Teamwork is the core: you talk over proximity voice chat, revive downed teammates and share the scarce resources you find. Between missions you put experience and materials into new skills and crafted items, and you also solve puzzles, find keys and unlock doors on the way out.

With the Friend's Pass, one owner can create a room where up to three friends play for free. Steam warns of intense pixel-art violence and blood. It suits groups who like Left 4 Dead's co-op against hordes with a retro isometric look and an ancient curse to unravel.

How to play Whisper Mountain Outbreak

  1. Pick one of the available classes at the start of a run; each has its own perks and skills.
  2. Create a room and share its code with up to three friends, or play alone.
  3. Choose a mission on the outbreak map and explore its buildings for resources, keys and clues.
  4. Fight off waves of monsters with melee and ranged weapons, heal with herbs and revive downed teammates.
  5. Complete the mission objective, then spend experience and materials on new skills and crafted items before going deeper.

Tips

  • Share ammunition and herbs; the store stresses that resources are scarce.
  • Stay close enough for proximity chat so you can call for a revive.
  • Mix classes in your team so you cover each other's weaknesses.
  • Watch the fog and the edges of your light, since limited visibility hides what is coming.
