What frightens Clover, a nine-year-old girl, wakes in a decaying mansion to find she is a ghost, guarded only by a doll built from wood, metal and human remains. Together they cross a 1926 town where the dead walk and spirits roam, into graveyards, tombs, caves and rotting estates, and any area revisited at night holds new and worse creatures.

Content: monsters and the walking dead, a companion doll made partly of human remains, combat violence.

Withering Realms is a third-person horror action RPG from Moonless Formless, the solo developer of Withering Rooms. As Clover, a girl who wakes up as a ghost in 1926, you explore the town of Penwyll and its graveyards and tombs with a doll guardian that fights for you, looking for a way back to life. It is in Early Access on Steam and playable from start to credits.

About Withering Realms

Withering Realms is set in 1926, ten years after an "occult event" stopped the Great War and changed the world in a night. The dead walk, spirits roam and a few people can cast spells. Clover, nine years old, wakes alone in a decaying mansion a few miles from where it happened and learns that she is a ghost. Her only companion is a doll made from wood, metal and human remains, and it does the fighting.

The game comes from Moonless Formless, the one-person studio behind Withering Rooms. Where that game kept you inside one Victorian mansion that rearranged itself each night, this one opens out: the town of Penwyll and the graveyards, tombs, caves and rotting estates around it. You expand the map by beating large perimeter guardians, gather treasure and upgrade materials, and craft weapons and machines that slot into the doll's missing right arm, from a chain rock to a machinegun or a flamethrower. Allies join you, among them Althea, a freelance investigator.

The horror is in the world: statues and robed figures in overgrown cemeteries, long-limbed things in a manor hall, hunched creatures in a foggy town square. Go back to any area at night and new creatures and secrets appear. Steam players compare its fights to Souls-like games.

It went into Early Access on Steam in September 2026. The maker says it is playable from start to credits in English, with more languages, end-game modes and console versions planned for 2027. It suits players who liked Withering Rooms or who want a gothic action RPG that keeps its horror up front.
