Among The Leaves was made by Gummy Grenade Games in Godot for Scream Jam 2025 and released in October 2025. It plays in the browser on itch.io, with a Windows download for anyone who has performance trouble, at a price you choose, including nothing. Its page states that no generative AI was used.

The idea is simple. Each day you rake a patch of autumn leaves, and the day ends once half of them are cleared. Over four days there are thirteen hidden items to find under the piles. A newspaper headline about a mysterious figure spotted in the woods sets the tone before you start.

At first it is calm, and several players call it relaxing. Then the things you rake up stop being harmless: a kitchen knife streaked with blood, and other pieces of a death you start to put together. The picture grows grainy and distorted, and large spiders come out of the leaves. The maker recommends playing with headphones and warns of spiders and depictions of death.

It takes a few minutes per run, and finding all thirteen items means raking thoroughly each day. It suits players who like small horror games where an ordinary chore turns sinister, such as Late Night Mop.

How to play Among The Leaves

1. Press Run game on the itch.io page, or download the Windows version if the web build runs slowly.
2. Put on headphones and switch to fullscreen with the button at the bottom right, as the maker recommends.
3. Rake the leaves with the mouse to clear the yard; each day ends when half are gone.
4. Look at what you uncover and collect the hidden items.
5. Keep going for four days to find all thirteen items and the truth.

Tips

• Rake more than half each day if you want every hidden item; the day ends at fifty percent.
• Several players found the gloves faster than the rake.
• Play with headphones; the sound carries much of the mood.
• If you dislike spiders, be warned: they are part of it.
