Foreborn is a short horror game by Twist And Scream, the fourth in its anthology The Twisted Zone. In a future of advanced technology the unborn can choose whether to be born by living their future lives in a simulation first, and you go through one of them. It runs about 25 minutes, is pay what you want on itch.io for Windows, and the maker warns of graphic violence and disturbing scenes.

About Foreborn

Foreborn is the fourth game in The Twisted Zone, an anthology of short stand-alone horror stories by the small team Twist And Scream, whose other games include Exorcist Candy, Wet Candy and The Sensifier. It came out on itch.io in August 2026, written by Amiee, with programming by Andy Lee and Zerore and voice acting for some of its characters, and has since been translated into sixteen other languages.

The idea is told in one line: in a future of hyper-advanced technology, the unborn can decide whether they should be born by experiencing their future lives in a simulation first. You are taken through one such life, scene by scene, with the question of whether it is worth living hanging over all of it.

It looks like a late-1990s 3D game, with angular low-poly people and rooms washed in sickly greens, reds and yellows. You walk with WASD, crouch, talk to people and interact with what is around you, and players mention small mini games along the way. The maker warns of graphic violence, flashing lights and visual effects, and scenes that may be psychologically distressing; it also tags the game as comedy, and players in its comments describe it as dark and disturbing with moments that made them laugh.

At about 25 minutes it is one sitting. It suits players who like short, story-led horror with a twist in the manner of an anthology television episode, and who do not mind a game that mixes grim scenes with odd humour.
