To find your wife Valeria you go out into dark streets and buildings full of bloodied creatures, with no HUD, a few hand-counted rounds and gunfire that can bring more of them to you.

Iron Blight is a first-person survival horror game set in a cold, rainy Eastern Bloc town after the state has collapsed. You leave a barricaded room to search the dark streets for your wife Valeria, counting every bullet, managing a cramped inventory and deciding which creatures to fight and which to slip past. There is no HUD: everything you need to know is in the world and in your hands.

About Iron Blight

Iron Blight is made by Ronesans Interactive and published by Rock Paper Publisher. It was released on Steam for Windows on 24 August 2026, and a free demo is also on Steam.

The world is dead and the state has collapsed. In a forgotten town of the former Eastern Bloc, you wake trapped in a room as abominations claw at the door, and your only reason to go on is to find your wife, Valeria. Reviewers describe two chapters: the first mostly inside one building, the second out in the more open streets of the town.

It plays as old-fashioned survival horror in first person. There is no HUD, no health bar and no ammunition counter. You check your magazines round by round and reload step by step, keep food and medical supplies in a small grid-based inventory, scavenge tools to get past obstacles, and solve puzzles that reward looking closely. Gunfire can draw more creatures, so it is often better to avoid a fight than to win it.

The fear is in the place: rain on cobblestones, flickering fluorescent lights, cries in the distance and the worry of what is around the next corner when your last bullet is in the gun. Players rate it highly; the most common complaint is that it is short. It suits fans of classic Resident Evil and of slow first-person survival horror who like to manage every round and item.

How to play Iron Blight

  1. Buy Iron Blight on Steam for Windows, or try the free demo first.
  2. Search the room and buildings you start in for weapons, ammunition, food and medicine.
  3. Check your magazine by hand before a fight; there is no ammunition counter on screen.
  4. Decide for each creature whether to shoot, run or sneak past, remembering that gunfire draws others.
  5. Manage your grid inventory, solve the puzzles and locked doors in your way, and keep moving toward Valeria.

Tips

  • Avoid fights you do not need; the store warns that the sound of gunfire can bring more creatures.
  • Check your magazine before going into a dark room so you are not surprised by an empty gun.
  • Leave behind items you do not need; inventory space is tight.
  • Look carefully at your surroundings. Reviewers note the puzzles reward observation and memory.
  • Keep healing items for emergencies rather than using them at the first scratch.
