What frightens Igor, a physicist who once worked at the Chernobyl plant, returns to the exclusion zone thirty years after his fiancée vanished; he scavenges through Pripyat's ruins and a world of green crystal, floating rock and twisted trees, against a hostile military, other stalkers and supernatural creatures.

Content: violence, gore, mature content.

Chernobylite is a science fiction survival horror RPG from The Farm 51, set in a 3D-scanned Chernobyl exclusion zone. Physicist Igor returns to Pripyat to uncover what happened to his fiancée thirty years ago, building a base, crafting, managing companions and sneaking or fighting past soldiers, stalkers and supernatural creatures.

About Chernobylite

Chernobylite was made by The Farm 51 and released on Steam in July 2021, where it is now sold as the Complete Edition. It holds a Metacritic score of 75 on PC, and the Zone was built from 3D scans of the real exclusion zone.

You play Igor, a physicist and former employee of the Chernobyl power plant, returning to Pripyat to investigate the disappearance of his fiancée thirty years before. The abandoned funfair, flooded river docks, overgrown forests and the plant itself under its arch are rendered in close detail, and the game moves between them and stranger places of glowing green crystal, floating rock and twisted trees.

Each day you plan operations from a base you build, craft gadgets, traps and weapons, and assign tasks and resources to companions you can trust or not. In the Zone you avoid detection and take enemies down quietly, or fight in the open, against a hostile military, other stalkers and supernatural creatures, while supplies dwindle and comrades die. The story is non-linear, and your choices change where it goes.

It suits players who like slow, scavenging survival horror with a strong sense of place.

  3. Send yourself and your companions into the Zone to scavenge and complete tasks.
  4. Sneak past or fight soldiers, stalkers and creatures.
  5. Make choices about whom to trust; they change the story.
