What frightens A farmer in the countryside of northeastern Argentina does his chores over five nights, Monday to Friday, while the Pombero of South American folklore draws closer and the suspense builds night by night with twists and encounters in the dark.

Pomberito is a first-person horror game set on a farm in rural northeastern Argentina. Over five nights you do your daily chores while the Pombero of local folklore haunts the dark around you, and your choices lead to one of several endings.

About Pomberito

Pomberito is a first-person horror adventure by the Argentine studio Lara the Pitbull, released on Steam in June 2024. It is built on the folklore of South America, and in particular on the Pombero, a figure from the tales told in the rural north-east of Argentina.

The game is split into five short episodes, one for each night from Monday to Friday. You play a local farmer who has daily chores to finish: gathering sticks, lighting a fire, fetching water, spreading fertilizer. The farm is isolated, lit by a few bulbs, a barn lantern and your flashlight, and each night the suspense grows, with unexpected twists and encounters.

What you decide and do through the week leads to different endings, and the lore of the Pombero comes out as you go.

It suits players of slow-building rural horror such as Dread Fields and The Swine, and anyone curious about folklore that horror games rarely visit.

How to play Pomberito

  1. Each night, check your task list and finish the chores on the farm.
  2. Use your flashlight to find your way around the dark fields, barn and house.
  3. Stay alert for what moves in the countryside as the nights go on.
  4. Make your choices through the week; they decide which ending you reach.
