What frightens You bring home an old game and play it late at night on a CRT in a dark, photorealistic bedroom. The bright little platformer, with its coins and grassy hills, starts to leak into the room around you, and you find yourself turning from the screen to check the dark room behind you. Its page warns of gore and violence.

Content: gore, violence, jumpscares.

A short horror game by Bråk that puts a cheerful retro platformer on an old CRT in a dark, realistic bedroom. You play it late at night with A, D and Space, look around the room with the mouse, and slowly notice the game and your surroundings are connected.

About REPLAY

REPLAY is a short horror game by Bråk (Hengikken), made in 30 days as a challenge and released on itch.io in February 2024 as a free, name-your-own-price download for Windows. In March 2025 its maker gave it a full visual overhaul.

After a long day you find an old-looking game on the way home and decide to play it that night. You sit in a dark bedroom in front of a boxy CRT and play a bright, simple 2D platformer: a little character running and jumping across grassy hills and collecting coins.

The controls are those of the game on the screen, A and D to move and Space to jump and use doors, while the mouse lets you turn your head and look around your real room. That split is the core of it: the crisp, old-school picture on the TV against a heavy, photorealistic room of lamps, snacks and shadows.

Its maker says it is inspired by creepypastas in general rather than one story, and the horror comes from noticing how what happens in the game is tied to the room you sit in. The page tags it gore and violent, and players mention a monster and scares.

It has one ending and is short, so it suits a single late-night sitting for anyone who grew up on cursed game stories.

How to play REPLAY

  1. Download it from its itch.io page for Windows; it is free, or name your own price.
  2. Play the platformer on the TV with A and D to move and Space to jump and go through doors.
  3. Use the mouse to look around your room between levels and while you play.
  4. Keep going through the game until it, and the room, reach the end.

Tips

  • Look away from the screen now and then; the room matters as much as the game.
  • Play at night with headphones, as its maker intends.
  • Lower the quality setting on the title screen if it runs slowly; it starts on the highest setting.
  • It has only one ending, so there is no need to replay for others.
