What frightens Three months after Raccoon City, Claire Redfield is captured and held on Umbrella's Rockfort Island just as an outbreak breaks out; she and later her brother Chris scavenge weapons and scarce ammunition against zombies, undead dogs, a giant subterranean worm and the unsettling Ashford twins, from the island to a freezing Antarctic base.

Content: violence, blood, gore.

Resident Evil Code: Veronica X is Capcom's survival horror sequel to Resident Evil 2. Claire Redfield, searching for her brother Chris, is captured and held on Umbrella's Rockfort Island when an outbreak hits, and the siblings fight zombies and other monstrosities from the island to an Antarctic base.

About Resident Evil Code: Veronica X

Resident Evil Code: Veronica first came out in 2000, and the expanded Code: Veronica X followed on PlayStation 2. Capcom sells it today on the PlayStation Store for PS4, where it also plays on PS5, and on the Xbox store for Xbox One and Series X|S. It picks up three months after the destruction of Raccoon City, as Claire Redfield travels to Europe in search of her brother Chris.

Claire is captured and taken to Rockfort Island, an Umbrella facility, just as an outbreak tears through it. The store sums up the rest: scavenge for weapons and precious ammunition to battle undead dogs, a gigantic subterranean worm and other terrors in the shadows, and explore Rockfort Island and the freezing Antarctic base for clues to Umbrella's goals and the truth about the unsettling Ashford twins.

It plays as the classic games do: a third-person view from set camera angles, a small inventory, item boxes, puzzles that open new parts of the facility, and careful choices about which enemies to fight. Later in the game you take control of Chris.

It is the main-series chapter between Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4, and suits players who have finished the remakes and want the story they skip, played the old way.

How to play Resident Evil Code: Veronica X

  1. Buy it on the PlayStation Store for PS4 (it also plays on PS5) or on the Xbox store for Xbox One and Series X|S.
  2. Explore Rockfort Island as Claire, collecting weapons, ammunition, herbs and key items.
  3. Store spare items in the item boxes and solve the puzzles that open new areas.
  4. Avoid fights you do not need; ammunition is scarce.
