What frightens Two hundred metres down a well, a grinning blue game host makes you play rock paper scissors with your hand locked under a row of blades, and every round you lose costs a part of your body.

Content: dismemberment, gore, blood.

RISERTRAP is a short, free browser horror game by abho. Two hundred metres deep in a well, a sadistic game host makes you play a modified game of rock paper scissors, and the loser loses a part of their body.

About RISERTRAP

RISERTRAP was made by abho for the Construct Game Jam 2024, with the game host voiced by Sam Bennett (bigblargh), and the maker's devlog announces it as a winner of that jam. It plays free in the browser on itch.io.

You wake 200 metres down a well, at a table across from a cheerful blue host with wide white eyes. Your hand is clamped under a row of small guillotines, each finger in its own slot. He explains the rules: a modified game of rock paper scissors, and whoever loses a round loses a part of their body.

The tension is in every throw. The host talks to you throughout in full voice acting, the blades come down with blood when you lose, and a monitor shows a diagram of the body as it is taken apart. The maker admits the game is weighted to last as long as possible for tension, and the host tries to predict your choices, so mixing up your throws matters. There are other endings for players who look closely at the room.

It lasts a few minutes. The maker warns of depictions of dismemberment. It suits players who liked Buckshot Roulette and want another tense table game against a host who wants you to lose.

Tips

  • Do not throw the same hand over and over; the maker says the host catches on.
  • Switch up your throws and do not rely on too many calls, as the maker advises.
  • Read the warning first: it shows dismemberment.
