What frightens Haru falls asleep on the last train and wakes in a bizarre place called Saihate Station with Shion, the cheerful coworker he envies; they promise to get home together, but the red-lit platforms and empty carriages hide the truth of the station, and Shion's warm smile turns unsettling.
Content: physical and verbal abuse, blood, murder, vomiting, unsettling sounds.
Saihate Station is a free exploration horror adventure by viv about the codependent, love-hate relationship between two 26-year-old coworkers. Haru and Shion wake at a bizarre station after falling asleep on the last train and promise to get home together, as the truth of the place and of their feelings comes out.
About Saihate Station
Saihate Station was made by viv and released free on Steam in March 2025 for Windows and Mac, with many languages added since, some translated by volunteers. Its maker calls it an exploration, horror and adventure game about the codependent, love-hate relationship between two men.
Haru Akinashi and Shion Tatsunami are both 26 and work at the same company. Shion is cheerful and good at everything; Haru is slow, lacks confidence and has started to keep his distance out of inferiority and envy. Then, after falling asleep on the last train, Haru wakes at Saihate Station, a place he has never heard of, with Shion beside him, and they promise to work together to get home.
You explore red-tinged platforms, train carriages and a dining car, talk a great deal and solve simple puzzles, with occasional chases; a game over lets you continue at once. Your actions change Haru's dependency level, which decides how the story goes and which ending you reach. The warning lists physical and verbal abuse, blood, murder, vomiting and unsettling sound effects.
It suits players who like quiet, character-driven psychological horror more than jump scares.
