What frightens You are locked in a dim, wallpapered mansion room with a sheeted shape on the floor and notes repeating 'It's not my fault'; you search for a way out while working out what happened to you, and the room does not let you go quietly.

Content: jumpscares, loud sounds.

Satiety is a short first-person escape-room horror game by Mike Ten, made in three weeks for the Synty game jam. Locked in a dim mansion room, you search drawers and wardrobes, read notes and solve small puzzles to get out and learn how you got there, in about 5 to 10 minutes.

About Satiety

Satiety is a jam game by Mike Ten, made in Unity in three weeks for the Synty game jam on the theme "Wait, Are We The Bad Guys?". It is free to play in the browser on itch.io, with a Windows download that its maker recommends for better performance, and any payment is optional.

You start in a single room of an old house: patterned wallpaper, a ceiling fan with one weak bulb, a candelabra, a heavy wardrobe and a shape under a sheet on the floor. The door is shut. You look around in first person, open drawers and doors, turn objects over to read them, and use your flashlight in the dark corners. A note covered in the words 'It's not my fault' is one of the first things you find.

The maker describes it as an escape room horror game about trying to escape and figure out what happened to you, and that is the whole shape of it: a handful of objects, notes and small puzzles lead to the way out, and the scare waits for the end. Players in the comments call its puzzles a nice touch, compare its examining of objects to classic Resident Evil, and remember a tense air-vent scene and a jumpscare.

It is a quick play for anyone who likes escape rooms with a horror edge, and its maker notes that some features were left out because of the jam's time limit.

How to play Satiety

  1. Open the itch.io page and press Run game, or download the Windows build for smoother play.
  2. Walk with WASD and look around the room with the mouse; press T for the flashlight in the dark.
  3. Press F to open drawers and doors and to pick up and examine objects.
  4. Read every note and use what you learn to solve the room's puzzles.
  5. Find the way out, and keep moving when something follows.
