What frightens Built on the Japanese urban legend of Teke Teke, the spirit of a girl cut in half who drags herself after people at night. After reading a disturbing article online you walk to a convenience store late at night and find yourself trapped there, beside a desolate train station, with something out on the dark road that you have to outrun.

Content: blood.

Teke Teke: Moonlit Dread is a short free first-person horror game by Medo, based on the Japanese urban legend of Teke Teke. A late-night trip for groceries leaves you trapped at a convenience store near an empty train station, and you have to outrun what comes for you. It takes about 15 minutes, has two endings and can be played in seven languages.

About Teke Teke: Moonlit Dread

Teke Teke: Moonlit Dread is a small horror game for Windows by Medo, an independent maker on itch.io, offered at a price you choose. It takes the Japanese urban legend of Teke Teke, a spirit said to drag itself along on its arms and make a scraping teke teke sound as it comes after people, and sets it on one quiet night.

It begins at home. You read a disturbing article online, then head out for a late-night grocery run with a list in your pocket. The road is lit by single street lamps, the convenience store glows at the edge of the trees, and the train station nearby is deserted. Before long you are trapped at the store, and the only question is whether you can outrun what follows you or find safety somewhere in the dark.

The game is drawn in the low-poly style of the PlayStation era, under a grainy VHS filter, with long stretches of black between pools of lamplight. Its fear comes from that emptiness and from knowing the legend before you meet it. It lasts about 15 minutes and has two endings.

It suits players who like short Japanese urban legend games such as Chilla's Art's, and who want something to finish in one sitting. The game can be played in English, German, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Ukrainian and Chinese, with subtitles.
