What frightens Andrew and Ashley Graves are locked in their apartment under a quarantine with no food; when a neighbour's satanic ritual goes wrong, the starving siblings turn to cannibalism and the occult, and the game keeps asking how far you will let them go.

Content: cannibalism, gore, violence, death of a child, domestic violence, incestuous themes, strong language, sexual themes.

The Coffin of Andy and Leyley is a top-down adventure about Andrew and Ashley Graves, siblings trapped in their apartment during a quarantine. After a neighbour's satanic ritual goes wrong, they turn to cannibalism to survive, and their choices only get darker. It is a story-led game of talking, light puzzles and terrible decisions, with a grim sense of humour.

About The Coffin of Andy and Leyley

The Coffin of Andy and Leyley began as a demo on itch.io and came to Steam in Early Access in October 2023, released by Kit9 Studio. It is being told in episodes; more chapters are planned and have been added over time.

Andrew and Ashley Graves have been shut inside their apartment for months. A quarantine order keeps them in, nobody answers their calls and the food has run out. Then a neighbour tries to summon a demon, and the ritual goes very wrong. The siblings are left with a body and a hunger, and the game asks you to make the obvious, awful choice. From there the story follows them as they try to get out and survive the mess they keep making.

Play is simple. You walk around top-down rooms as one sibling or the other, talk a great deal, solve light puzzles and choose what to do, and those choices lead the story down different routes to multiple endings. The pressure comes from the writing: Ashley pushes, Andrew gives in, and the bond between them is the most unsettling thing in the game.

It is a horror story more than a frightening game. The hand-drawn art and the sharp, often funny dialogue sit against cannibalism, ritual murder, a summoned entity and a sibling relationship that crosses lines. The store page lists, among other things, decapitating people and eating their remains, suffocating a child, domestic violence and siblings kissing. It suits players who like dark story games such as Angels of Death and do not mind very disturbing subjects treated with black humour.

How to play The Coffin of Andy and Leyley

  1. Start the first episode and choose which sibling to play when the game asks.
  2. Walk around each room, examine objects and talk to your sibling to find out what to do next.
  3. Solve the light puzzles that block your way, often by finding and using the right item.
  4. Pick your answers and actions in key scenes; they change the route and the ending you reach.
  5. Play the later episodes in order, as each carries on from your choices.

Tips

  • Examine everything; much of the dark humour is in the item descriptions.
  • Save before big choices if you want to see the other routes.
  • Read the content warnings first: the game is very disturbing in places.
  • Talk to your sibling often; the dialogue moves the story and points to the next step.
