The Last of Us Part II Remastered is Naughty Dog's sequel to The Last of Us, now on PC and PlayStation 5. Five years after the first game, a violent event drives Ellie from her home in Jackson to Seattle, where she sneaks, scavenges and fights through the Infected and warring factions, in a story told from two sides.

About The Last of Us Part II Remastered

The Last of Us Part II first came out on PlayStation 4 in 2020. The Remastered edition followed on PlayStation 5 in 2024 and on PC in April 2025, adapted by Nixxes Software and Iron Galaxy, with graphical improvements, DualSense support and No Return, a new roguelike survival mode.

Five years after their journey across the United States, Ellie and Joel live in the community of Jackson, Wyoming. When a violent event breaks that peace, Ellie sets out for Seattle to find those responsible. The city is flooded and overgrown, split between two warring factions, and full of the Infected: people taken over by the Cordyceps fungus, from fast runners to clickers that see by sound and kill with a single grab.

It plays as a tense mix of stealth, scavenging and brutal fighting. You go prone in tall grass, listen to locate enemies, craft makeshift weapons and medkits from scraps, and decide when to sneak past and when to strike. Human enemies call out to one another by name and their dogs follow your scent, while Infected nests in dark buildings make for some of the series' most frightening moments.

The story is long, very violent and divisive by design, asking hard questions about revenge. It suits players who want tense survival horror inside a big story game, and those who played Part I.

How to play The Last of Us Part II Remastered

  1. Explore each area, searching for supplies and crafting materials.
  2. Craft medkits, molotovs and other tools at the right moment; materials are shared between recipes.
  3. Use listen mode and cover to track enemies, and go prone in grass to stay hidden.
  4. Throw bottles and bricks to distract enemies and slip past or take them down quietly.
  5. Try No Return for short roguelike runs once you know the combat.
