THE MUTE HOUSE is an old-school survival horror game with fixed camera angles. Emily, a county policewoman, follows her sister's disappearance to an isolated mansion in the woods and is trapped inside, where she must manage a small inventory, solve puzzles and make every bullet count against its creatures.

About THE MUTE HOUSE

THE MUTE HOUSE is a survival horror game by December Blues Games, a solo developer from France, released on Steam in January 2025. It is built on the old and classic survival horror games of the 1990s, with fixed camera angles, and combines exploration, inventory management, puzzles and a touch of action.

For months there have been strange disappearances in and around Ashtown. When her own sister vanishes, Emily, a county policewoman, starts a personal investigation without the approval of the Sheriff's office. It leads her to an eerie house in the woods. Intrigued, she goes in, and finds herself trapped in a mysterious, isolated mansion whose secrets and history she has to uncover.

Play follows the golden-age rules. Emily has a limited inventory and a storage system, so you plan what to carry. Puzzles open new parts of the house and call for logic. Every bullet counts and danger lurks in every corner, so you choose your gear for what lives there. The screenshots show a grand hall under a chandelier, a red-papered corridor with a body on the floor, a cellar of barrels and a dining room under dust sheets.

It suits players who miss the first Resident Evil and the original Alone in the Dark, and who like newer homages such as Echoes of the Living.

How to play THE MUTE HOUSE

Buy and install the game from Steam (Windows).
Enter the mansion in the woods as Emily.
Explore room by room through the fixed camera angles, picking up keys, ammunition and items.
Manage your limited inventory and leave what you do not need in storage.
Solve puzzles to open new areas, and defend yourself only when you must.
