About Westworld Awakening

Westworld Awakening is a virtual reality game by Survios, made with HBO and released in August 2019. It is set during the events of Westworld's second season and played from the perspective of Kate, a host inside the Mesa facility, the labs beneath the park, who has become self-aware.

The Mesa is a dangerous underworld where no one and nothing is what it seems. You walk its laboratories and offices, find scenes and places from the show, solve puzzles and use a tablet to interact with and manipulate other hosts and the world around you.

All the while Hank, a relentless serial killer host, is hunting you. Reviewers describe it as stealth horror, much of it a tense game of hide and seek, and say some scenes are genuinely harrowing in VR. To escape you have to dig into Westworld's secret past.

It is VR only and needs a headset with tracked controllers. It suits Westworld fans and VR players who want a story-driven stalker game; reviewers put it at a few hours long.

How to play Westworld Awakening

  1. Buy it on Steam and play it with a PC VR headset and tracked controllers.
  2. Explore the Mesa facility as Kate and follow the story.
  3. Hide from Hank and sneak past him when he hunts you.
  4. Use your tablet to manipulate hosts and objects and solve puzzles to get further.

Tips

  • Learn where you can hide in each area before Hank appears.
  • Try the comfort options if arm-swing movement makes you queasy.
