About Among the Sleep

Among the Sleep is the first game by Krillbite Studio of Norway, released in 2014 and later remastered as the Enhanced Edition, which is the version sold today on Steam, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

You see the world from a toddler's height. Door handles are out of reach, chairs must be pushed into place to climb, and running means wobbling on two feet or crawling on hands and knees for speed. Your teddy bear talks to you, and hugging him lights the dark around you. The night begins in your own nursery and leads through the house into strange dream places built from childhood things: a playground, a forest, a flooded hallway.

The horror is quiet and heavy rather than violent. Noises in the dark, a shape in a long coat and the sense that something is wrong at home make every room tense, and the few chases are frightening because you cannot fight back, only hide in a wardrobe or under a bed. The story it tells beneath the nightmare is a serious one, revealed gently through the dream.

It suits players who want atmosphere and story over combat, and anyone who liked Little Nightmares or games seen through a child's eyes.

How to play Among the Sleep

1. Climb out of the cot and explore the nursery to find your teddy bear.
2. Crawl to move faster and quieter; stand to reach handles and push chairs to climb.
3. Hug the teddy bear to light up the darkness when you cannot see.
4. Find the memories hidden in each dream area to open the way back to the house.
5. When something hunts you, hide in a wardrobe or under furniture and wait until it passes.

Tips

• Crawling is faster than walking for a toddler, so crawl when you need to get away.
• Use the teddy's light sparingly in chases: it helps you see but you still need to keep moving.
• Look around for drawers and boxes to climb on; most puzzles are about reaching something high.
• Play with headphones; sound tells you where the threat is.
