What frightens A personality quiz on a cheerful site called FuzzBee, "What Kind of Toy are You", that the maker says starts out normal and gets very creepy. The questions and the vintage advertisement art beside them turn unsettling as you answer, with no jumpscares.

Content: disturbing imagery.

Be Honest is a free browser horror game shaped as a personality quiz. You answer questions on a bright, harmless-looking quiz site, and the quiz grows creepier the further you get, without a single jumpscare.

About Be Honest

Be Honest is a short horror game by Ezra Szanton, with music and sound by The Spookfish and work by Fergus Ferguson, built as part of the Tiny Mass Games collective. The maker calls it a horror personality quiz: it starts out normal and gets very creepy.

It opens on a cheerful quiz site called FuzzBee, which welcomes you and says it has dug up an old personality quiz just for you, "What Kind of Toy are You". Beside it runs an old magazine advertisement of a smiling girl over a bowl of cereal. You click Begin Quiz and answer one question after another.

The horror is in the slow turn. There are no monsters to run from and no jumpscares, as the maker promises; instead the quiz, its questions and its pictures stop behaving like a harmless internet test. It belongs to the small genre itch.io players call survey horror, where a form you fill in becomes the thing that frightens you.

It takes 10 to 30 minutes, depending on how fast you answer. The maker recommends the Windows download where you can, because some features do not work on the web, and a remastered version is planned for Steam. It suits players who like quiet, uncanny horror that plays with its own format.

How to play Be Honest

  1. Open the game's itch.io page and press Run game, or download the Windows build.
  2. Turn the sound on, then click Begin Quiz on the welcome screen.
  3. Read each question and click the answer that fits you.
  4. Keep answering until the quiz is finished with you.
