About Please Answer Carefully
Please Answer Carefully is a short browser horror game by the itch.io maker litrouke, built in Twine in 24 hours. It looks like nothing more than a web survey: a grey page, a numbered question, a set of radio buttons and an arrow to carry on. The instructions thank you for taking part, promise five to ten minutes and ask you to keep your sound on.
Then the survey starts to go wrong. Questions about your habits and your privacy online give way to ones that speak to you directly, words arrive one by one on a timer, and the answers you can pick are no longer the answers you would choose. Low audio, breathing and a tape drone build underneath. The game is about stalking, and the maker warns about that at the start.
There are no monsters and no jumpscares; the fear is in the slow realisation of who is asking. It plays entirely with the mouse and is over in a few minutes, which makes it an easy first pick for a reader who wants something unsettling rather than loud.
