What frightens You become an ordinary worker in an ordinary house: wake, go to work at the desk, pay, sleep, follow the to-do list. Every day is the same until something shifts, the text on the screen scrambles, the white rooms turn grainy and wrong, and the house starts asking you questions.

Content: flashing images (photosensitive epilepsy warning).

blank_01 is a short first-person horror game by ln404 about routine, isolation and quiet horror. You live in a stark black-and-white house and work a simple job, following the same list of tasks every day, until the days begin to change. It takes about twenty minutes and is free in the browser and on Steam.

About blank_01

blank_01 is a free game by ln404, playable in the browser on itch.io and released on Steam in August 2025. Its whole pitch is one line: become an ordinary worker in an ordinary house.

The house is drawn in thick black lines on white, like a sketch come to life. You walk from room to room with a to-do list you can pull up at any time: go to the desk and work, pay, go to the door marked sleep. Each day the list is the same and so are you. The repetition is the point, and the quiet sound and empty rooms make the routine feel lonely from the start.

Then something shifts. The words on the screen come out scrambled, grain and static creep into the picture, a pale hand appears, and a monitor asks you whether you are happy, with a button for yes and a button for no. The game never explains itself in a rush; the dread comes from a routine you cannot leave turning into something else.

It lasts about twenty minutes and has no saves, so play it in one sitting. The maker warns that it may trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy, and recommends the download over the browser version where possible.

  • Play it in one go; there are no saves.

  • Read the photosensitivity warning first if flashing images affect you.
  • If the browser version runs poorly, the maker recommends the download or the free Steam version.
