How to Make a Cup of Tea was made by WORLDENDDISK, Jian_Zen and cellez27 in 48 hours for the GMTK Game Jam 2020. It opens with a polite request: someone could do with a good cup of tea, and they will guide you through making it.

You walk through a bare, chalk-white house in first person. Instructions appear at the top of the screen, one simple step at a time: get the tea bag, get the kettle, put the tea bag into the cup, get milk, get sugar. Each item has to be found and carried back, and finding it is where things start to slip.

The empty rooms, dark doorways and patient instructions give it a creeping unease, and the person you are serving is stranger than a normal guest. The game plays its oddness for laughs as much as for chills, so it sits between comedy and horror; players describe being on edge the whole time and being startled near the end.

It is a few minutes long and free. It suits anyone who wants a quick, weird horror-comedy rather than a long scare, and it plays in the browser on its itch.io page, or can be downloaded for Windows if the browser version does not load.
