What frightens On Tormentosa, a cursed island in a nightmarish version of Spain, religious statues and puppet-like idols come to life, cults practise blood sacrifice, and your only weapon is your own blood, drained with every shot.

Content: blood, gore, violence, religious imagery.

Crisol: Theater of Idols is a first-person survival horror game by Vermila Studios, published by Blumhouse Games. As Gabriel, a soldier on a divine mission for the Sun God, you explore the cursed island of Tormentosa in a nightmarish Hispania, fighting living statues and idols with weapons that use your own blood as ammunition.

About Crisol: Theater of Idols

Crisol: Theater of Idols was made by the Spanish studio Vermila Studios and published by Blumhouse Games in February 2026. It is set in Hispania, a nightmarish reimagining of Spain that fuses its history, folklore and religious imagery into a horror world.

You play Gabriel, a soldier sent on a divine mission by the Sun God to Tormentosa, a beautiful but malevolent island. Its grand ruins, labyrinthine streets and eerie landscapes hide a history of cults and blood sacrifice, and the island's statues and idols, from saints to fairground puppets, come to life to attack you.

The central idea is blood. Gabriel can turn his own blood into a deadly weapon, so it is both your lifeline and your ammunition: every shot costs health. You must balance damage against survival, refill from the fallen, upgrade your blood powers to fight longer and harder, and improve your weapons with coins found while exploring. Puzzles block the way through the island, and the story blurs reality and nightmare.

It suits players who liked Resident Evil Village's gothic, religious horror and want survival horror with an unusual resource at its heart.

How to play Crisol: Theater of Idols

  1. Explore Tormentosa in first person, searching ruins and streets for coins, items and the way forward.
  2. Fight living statues and idols with your blood-powered weapons, remembering that every shot costs health.
  3. Refill your blood and choose upgrades that let you fight longer or harder.
  4. Upgrade your weapons with the coins you find, and solve the island's puzzles.
