What frightens Players take the role of monsters or mortals from Dark Deception and other horror games and fight over soul shards in nightmarish mazes: in Maze Escape four mortals collect shards to open a portal while two monsters hunt them, and in Soul Collection the mortal with the fewest shards each wave has their soul taken and turns hunter.

Content: blood.

Dark Deception: Monsters & Mortals is the online multiplayer spin-off of Dark Deception by Glowstick Entertainment. Players are mortals collecting soul shards in nightmarish mazes, or the monsters from Dark Deception and other horror games hunting them, across several modes for up to six.

About Dark Deception: Monsters & Mortals

Dark Deception: Monsters & Mortals is a multiplayer horror game by Glowstick Entertainment, the makers of Dark Deception, released on Steam in 2020. Players take on the roles of monsters and mortals from the Dark Deception universe, and from other horror games, and battle each other in nightmarish mazes, some familiar from Dark Deception and many new.

There are three main modes. In Maze Escape, four mortals must collect enough shards to summon a portal and escape while two monsters try to stop or kill them before time runs out. Shard Mayhem is monsters only: six players compete to collect the most shards and can steal them by attacking each other. In Soul Collection, six mortals compete for shards, and after each wave Malak comes for the one with the fewest and takes their soul, turning them into a monster who hunts the rest until one mortal is left.

Each character has a special ability of its own, item boxes give powers, health and traps, and traps and bosses can turn a match around. It is a horror party game more than a slow scare: its chases and monsters are built to startle, but the mood is competitive.

It suits groups of friends who liked Dark Deception's chases, and players who enjoy asymmetrical games like Dead by Daylight in a shorter, faster form.
