EVERYBODY MUST DIE is a dark pixel-art horror game by Damulchi set in a mental rehabilitation center in 1906. An elderly patient wakes from a nightmare as if possessed and sets out to kill everyone there, and you play him. It mixes bloody top-down fights with word-lock puzzles and takes about 45 minutes.

About EVERYBODY MUST DIE

EVERYBODY MUST DIE is a free game by Damulchi, who made it after work and on weekends over about six months. Its page sets the scene in both English and Korean: April 30, 1906, Goldsworthy Mental Health Rehabilitation Center. An old man in the hospital has a terrible nightmare, and as if possessed by something, he begins to plan the deaths of everyone in the building.

You play that man, Mr. Osborne, seen from above in detailed pixel art. The center is dark, lit by candles and lamps, with patterned rugs, cluttered offices and a cellar of barrels and pipes. Staff talk to you as if nothing were wrong, then the violence begins, and the screen fills with red splatter as you attack with what you carry.

It is not only fighting. Doors are sealed with word locks and number locks whose answers are hidden in clues around the building, and diaries fill in what is really going on. Deeper in, the patients are not the only things you meet: there are weird creatures and spiders, explosives to use, and a final fight that players call hard.

It takes around 45 minutes. It suits players who can handle a lot of pixel gore and like a story told from the killer's side.

How to play EVERYBODY MUST DIE

  2. Press Space to attack, and X to put down what you are carrying.
  3. Search rooms for clues and diary pages, and use them to open the word and number locks.
  4. Fight your way through the center and its basement to the final confrontation.

Tips
