On PC: one of the PC horror games.

What frightens A containment breach in the underground Aegis Research Facility, caused by an unknown entity of Class 4 or above. As Specter 8 of the Special Response Team you go down through dark, blood-smeared corridors past dead staff, reporting what you find to your operator Morpho over the radio; the game needs stereo headphones to hear where things are.

Content: blood, dead bodies, jumpscares.

10-103 is a free, short pixel-art horror game. As Specter 8 of a special response team you descend into an underground research facility after a containment breach, with only your radio operator for company.

About 10-103

10-103 is a short horror adventure by Nerdspartan, made in ten days for the Scream FM 2020 game jam. A containment breach has been declared at the Aegis Research Facility, caused by an entity of Class 4 or above of unknown type, and the Special Response Team is sent in. You play Specter 8, and you must keep radio contact with your operator, Morpho, at all times.

The game is seen from the side, in dark pixel art lit by strips of ceiling light and red alarm lamps. You walk the corridors and ride the elevators down, finding blood on the walls and dead staff on the floor, and press Tab to report what you find. The radio talk uses police 10-codes; the maker notes you do not need to know them.

The fear is mostly in what you hear. The maker asks you to play with headphones because the game needs stereo output, and the sounds around Specter 8 tell you more than the screen does. You carry a gun, but this is a descent into the dark, not a shooter.

It takes about half an hour, is free in the browser and on Windows, and has a sequel, 10-103: NULL KELVIN, set on an Arctic island.

How to play 10-103

  1. Open the itch.io page and press Run game, or download it for Windows.
  2. Put on stereo headphones, as the maker asks.
  3. Move with A and D or the arrows, and take elevators down with S or Down.
  4. Press Tab to report unusual finds to Morpho, and Space to shoot if you must.

Tips

  • Headphones matter: the stereo sound tells you which side something is on.
  • Report what you find; the radio is how the story moves.
  • You do not need to know the police 10-codes to follow it.
