Sheriff James Cooper, chasing a serial killer, wakes in a strange hospital with a wound that will kill him in fifteen minutes; each time he dies the loop restarts, and he keeps what he has learned as he fights the monsters inside and looks for a way out.

About Fear The Timeloop

Fear The Timeloop is a third-person survival horror game made by TacoEaters and published by PlayWay. It came out on Steam in January 2026 and on PlayStation 5 and Xbox in September 2026.

You play Sheriff James Cooper, who was chasing a relentless serial killer and wakes up in Saint Heritage Hospital, a place he does not know, with a grievous wound. If he does nothing he will be dead in fifteen minutes, and when he dies everything starts over, except his memories. The only person who can help him is his deputy, Rose Watters, and neither of them knows what is waiting in the hospital's dark corners.

The loop is both the story and the way it plays. Each run you learn more of the building, gain experience and build up abilities in a system you can shape to how you like to play. Like a Metroidvania, places that were shut to you open later as you return with new abilities and items. Conversations branch according to your early choices and the route you take through the loop.

The fright comes from the clock and from what fills the hospital: monsters that come at you in the dark, a giant armoured brute in its corridors, and silent figures in robes surrounding the grounds, ready to kill anyone who steps outside. It suits players who like the third-person survival horror of the modern Resident Evil games and want a run-and-learn structure built around a single deadly quarter of an hour.

How to play Fear The Timeloop

Wake in the hospital and keep an eye on the time you have before the wound kills you.
Explore, pick up items and weapons, and fight or avoid the monsters in the corridors.
When you die, start the loop again with what you remember and the experience you have gained.
Spend that experience on abilities that fit how you like to play.
Go back to places that were closed to you once you have the abilities or items to get in.
