Good Boy is a short first-person horror game by thealphagurlux, drawn by hand in black and white over 3D rooms. On his birthday a child walks into the dark corners of his own mind, through a family home that turns stranger with every door. It takes about an hour and has three endings; the page now sells the remastered Good Boy: Best Boy Edition.

About Good Boy

Good Boy is the first of a series of first-person horror games by the itch.io maker thealphagurlux, made in Unreal Engine and followed by Good Boy 2. Every surface looks sketched in ink: wallpaper of scratched triangles, floors of rough planks, furniture drawn with heavy black lines, with only a few touches of red and yellow light.

It is your birthday. You start in the rooms of a family home, a nursery with letter blocks and a teddy bear, a kitchen with a cake, a living room with a television, and the game asks you, again and again, whether you have been a good boy. The house is a way into the mind of a child, and the further you go the more it shows what hides in its dark corners: walls that drip, a pentagram scrawled by a door, a candle-lit room of hanging paper dolls, and a door that glows red.

In 2026 the maker released Good Boy: Best Boy Edition, a remaster of the original rather than a new game. It fixes glitches of the first build and adds new scares and mechanics, more interactivity and hidden collectibles that fill in parts of the story. The maker's page says the original version can still be played free, but the download offered on the page is the Best Boy Edition, for 4 US dollars or more.

It plays as a short narrative horror walk of about an hour, with three endings. It has subtitles and a high-contrast option. It suits players who like their horror strange and personal, seen through a child's eyes, more than chases and combat.
