What frightens As an 11-year-old left for the month at your grandmother's isolated farmhouse, you see her change after a disturbing accident: her words stop making sense, rooms are suddenly off-limits, noises come at night and you feel watched in the day, until you suspect she is hiding something dark. The maker tags it with gore.

Content: gore, blood.

UNSTRANGE is a short first-person horror game by Fear Scape, made to look like a PS1 game. You are an 11-year-old staying at your grandmother's lonely farmhouse as you do every month, but after an accident she starts acting strangely, rooms are closed to you and something moves in the house at night. It takes about 35 minutes.

About UNSTRANGE

UNSTRANGE is one of a run of short horror games by Fear Scape, a young solo maker who sells them on itch.io for a dollar or more, for Windows, Mac, Linux and Android.

You play an 11-year-old whose mother drops them off every month at their grandmother's house, a wooden farmhouse at the end of a dirt road far from the city. The visits have always been quiet and lonely but safe. This time grandmother has had an accident, and afterwards she is not the same: what she says stops making sense, her habits change and some rooms are suddenly locked to you.

You explore the house and its yard in first person, by day in the warm light of the fields and by night in near-total darkness, while the noises and the feeling of being watched build. The look is the coarse, low-poly style of late-1990s 3D games, with a grainy video filter.

The horror is the slow kind that comes from someone you trust turning strange, until it turns bloody. It suits players who like short PSX-style horror to finish in one sitting, and anyone who enjoyed being looked after by a relative who should not be trusted in games like SHE WAS 98.
