What frightens A young man is found dead beside his video camera, and when the camera is plugged into his computer the files turn corrupt; as an intelligence agent you dig through his 2005 desktop and find files that write themselves and something born from memory that pretends to be human and is learning, while each recovered video becomes a first-person walk through his last fears.

Content: disturbing imagery, gore, references to self-harm.

Heaven Does Not Respond is a psychological and analog horror game played on a retro computer desktop in an alternate 2005. As an intelligence agent you recover the corrupted files of a young man found dead, watch and enter his last videos, and uncover the secret project behind his death.

About Heaven Does Not Respond

Heaven Does Not Respond is the work of Rise Studios, released on Steam in February 2026. It is set in an alternate 2005: a young man named Selim Kara is found dead near a village, a handheld video camera beside him, and when the camera is connected to his computer the system becomes corrupted.

You are an agent of the National Intelligence Center, assigned to recover the files. The whole game takes place on a recreated desktop of the time, with a command line, a file explorer, an image viewer, a slow early-2000s internet of forums and websites and forgotten programs. There is no HUD and no tutorial; you work out what to do from the machine itself.

As you dig, files start writing themselves and the store warns that something is pretending to be human: born not from code but from memory, learning and listening. Behind it is Turquoise Technologies, a rising AI company, and its secret Project Heaven. Four recovered videos turn into playable first-person memories, a dark hotel corridor and an empty road at night among them, where you face fears that were not yours.

The maker warns of disturbing imagery, gore and references to self-harm. It suits players of computer-snooping horror such as Last Seen Online or Stories Untold who want a mystery with a larger conspiracy behind it.

How to play Heaven Does Not Respond

  1. Read the case file on Selim Kara's death and log into his computer.
  2. Use the desktop's programs, the command line, file explorer and browser, to find and repair corrupted files.
  3. Read his messages, forums and reports for clues about what happened.
  4. Play each recovered video as a first-person memory and walk through it to the end.
  5. Follow the trail to Turquoise Technologies and Project Heaven.

Tips

  • There is no tutorial, so try the command line's help and read every readme you find.
  • Keep notes of names, codes and dates from reports; the desktop rarely repeats them.
  • Watch for files that change when you were not looking at them.
