Heaven Dust 2 is an isometric survival horror game by One Gruel Studio in the style of the early Resident Evil games. You wake up inside a research centre after a virus outbreak and explore it, solve item puzzles and manage scarce supplies while zombies and mutated monsters close in.
About Heaven Dust 2
Heaven Dust 2 is a survival horror game by One Gruel Studio, published by indienova and released on Steam and Switch in January 2022, with a PlayStation 4 version later. It is a stand-alone sequel to Heaven Dust, and the store says you do not need to have played the first.
After a press conference, a virus breaks out in the mysterious First Research Center. Deep inside it, Steve wakes up in a cryogenic pod surrounded by zombies, again, and someone on the other side seems to know more about him than he does.
It plays as a love letter to classic survival horror, seen from above. You explore the base, collect and combine items to open the way on, upgrade a limited inventory, and fight with a dagger, a submachine gun, a shotgun and grenades that you can modify. Besides ordinary zombies there are armoured Bone Fiends, regenerating Blood Fiends and boss fights, and each enemy calls for a different weapon or plan.
The store promises about ten hours, twice the length of the first game, with casual, normal and expert difficulties. Two escape routes at the end lead to two endings. It suits players who grew up on Resident Evil and want its rhythm of keys, puzzles and careful ammunition in a smaller, cheaper game.
