What frightens From midnight to six you watch live security feeds of six places, among them a lakeside cottage, a night train and a hospital, and must spot and report every change: furniture that moves, objects that appear, ghosts and intruders that should not exist. Let too many go unreported and the night ends in death, so you stare at still rooms until you doubt your own memory.

Content: scary monsters, corpses, blood, mild nudity, jumpscares.

I'm on Observation Duty 6 is a spot-the-difference horror game from Notovia's series. As an employee of a mysterious organisation you watch live surveillance cameras across six levels from midnight to 6 am, and click on every anomaly you see, from moved furniture to otherworldly intruders, before too many pile up.

About I'm on Observation Duty 6

I'm on Observation Duty 6 is the sixth game in Notovia's series of camera-watching horror games, made with Dreamloop Games and released in September 2023 for PC, Mac and Linux. The makers call it the most ambitious in the series so far, with six levels to survive.

The idea is the same as before. You work for a mysterious organisation and watch live surveillance footage through a night shift, from 00:00 to 06:00 in game time. You flick between camera views of each place and report every anomaly: an object that has moved or vanished, a light that changed, a ghost in a doorway, an intruder who should not exist. Too many active, unreported anomalies and the night is over for you.

This game changes how you report. Instead of picking a room and type from a menu as in the earlier games, you can click on the anomaly itself and pick its type from a short list, which players say makes the work feel more like a hidden-object hunt. The footage is in colour this time, and the levels range from a lakeside cottage with a sauna to a passenger train, a hospital and an underwater site. There is a normal and a harder mode.

The fear is quiet and creeping. Most of the time nothing seems to happen, and you are left staring at empty kitchens, train cars and corridors, trying to remember whether that chair was always there. Then an intruder or a ghost appears on a feed and you have to catch it in time. It suits players who like The Exit 8 and anomaly games, and anyone who played the earlier entries.

How to play I'm on Observation Duty 6

  1. Choose a level and start the night shift at 00:00.
  2. Flick between the camera views with the arrows and learn how every room looks at the start.
  3. When something changes, click on it and pick the type of anomaly from the list to file a report.
  4. Keep checking all the cameras so unreported anomalies do not pile up.
  5. Survive until 06:00 to finish the level.

Tips

  • Spend the first minutes memorising each camera; the start of the night is your reference.
  • Cycle through every camera regularly instead of watching one room.
  • Start on normal mode and try the harder mode once you know the rooms.
  • Replaying a level helps; players say you spot changes faster once you know the rooms.
