What frightens You spend a night shift on live surveillance cameras across six levels and report every anomaly, from a subtle shift in a room to a grotesque otherworldly intruder. Each correct report fixes one; let them pile up and the night ends badly, and the long quiet stretches feed the paranoia.

Content: scary monsters, corpses, violence, blood, mild nudity.

I'm on Observation Duty 8 is the eighth game in Notovia's spot-the-difference horror series, made with Dreamloop Games. Through a night shift you watch live security cameras across six new levels and report every anomaly, from subtle changes to otherworldly intruders, before too many build up. It is sold for PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation and Xbox.

About I'm on Observation Duty 8

I'm on Observation Duty 8 is a horror game by Notovia and Dreamloop Games, released on Steam in December 2025 for Windows, Mac and Linux, and also sold for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox. It is the eighth numbered entry in the series that, in the store's words, started the spot-the-difference horror trend.

The job has not changed. You work for a mysterious organisation and watch live surveillance footage from the start of a night shift until morning. Each of the six levels has its own anomalies, supernatural events that range from subtle shifts in a room to grotesque intruders. When you spot one, you report it and say what it is, and a correct report fixes it. Too many active anomalies and you do not survive the night.

The store screenshots show how far the places range this time: a fashion catwalk lined with red seats, a kitchen, a stable with a horse in its stall, an underwater camera, a snowy station with a radar dome and red lights in the dark, a front porch, a stairwell and a keeper's cabin. The game supports controllers.

The fear is quiet watching, broken by intruders that should not be on any feed. The makers warn of scary monsters, some corpses, violence, blood and mild nudity. It suits anyone who played the earlier entries and wants new places to memorise, and players of The Exit 8 and other anomaly games.

How to play I'm on Observation Duty 8

  1. Pick a level and start the night shift.
  2. Look through every camera once and remember how each place looks.
  3. Keep switching between the cameras and look for anything that changed or appeared.
  4. When you spot an anomaly, report it and choose its type.
  5. Keep the number of active anomalies down until the shift is over.

Tips

  • Learn the starting state of each camera before anything happens; it is your only reference.
  • Go round all the cameras in a fixed order so none is left unchecked for long.
  • Watch the edges of each view as well as the centre; small objects move there.
  • If you are not sure, look again before reporting rather than guessing.
